Feeling Blue

Feeling Blue

Nautical stripes and colors have been all over the stores this spring season, reminiscent of sailing and trips to the beach.  However, nautical influences go beyond just clothing, with tons of new seafoam nail shades to choose from.  I picked up a creamy blue tone for my toes and fingers, which just happens to match by bathing suit ever so perfectly.  J

Wear Your Sunday Best

Wear Your Sunday Best

I have always loved getting dressed up on Easter Sunday.  It started when I was a little girl, picking out the perfect floral dress for church and breakfast with the family.  Now, I still enjoy getting dolled up on Easter, the perfect excuse to wear a colorful dress and have a fashionable moment.  This year, I went with a neon dress and deep purple necklace.  I kept the accessories to a minimum since the dress was such a vibrant shade of yellow.  This will be the perfect dress for a summer wedding or cocktail party!

And the ideal Easter clutch…  Eat Cake for Breakfast.  J

Daily Shoe in Snap Shots: Week One

Daily Shoe in Snap Shots: Week One

I recently noticed that when I pass by people at work, on the street, or out on the town, they are often staring at my feet.  Now, perhaps I should be offended by this and yell “Hey I’m up here!” but I take it as a compliment.  They are simply staring at my shoes.  Since I have such a wide collection of footwear in many colors, heel heights and patterns, it’s understandable that people may notice my shoes first.  So I thought, why not celebrate this?  And so, “Daily Shoe in Snap Shots” is officially born!

The mission – Document my daily footwear and where my shoes have taken me.  In case you’re not an Instagram user yet, here’s what I’ve been snapping away on my phone this week and posting to Twitter…

Island Style

Island Style

Packing for a beach bound vacation might seem overwhelming, but for me I try not to over think what I am going to wear and I throw in pieces that allow me to simply go with the flow.  Although you never know of last minute weather changes, you can usually count on sunny skies, high temps and hopefully a little breeze on the beach.  My go-to vacation basics include plenty of light dresses and cover-ups, a few beach hats, sandals and wedges, a great beach bag and of course, sunscreen.  At the end of the day, I feel confident throwing my hair up in a bun and walking the beach with my multi-colored toes.

Vacation Toes

Vacation Toes

Someone once told me that you are most yourself on vacation.  Why?  Because you typically don’t know the people surrounding you, so you’re less worried about judgment or making a big impression.  Maybe that’s how I was feeling when I painted my toes last night for my trip to Florida.  I couldn’t decide on a color, so I took a risk and painted the colors of the rainbow on my nails.  Does it look goofy?  Maybe.  But, it’s fun, festive and springy!  So, if people on the beach want to judge my crazy colors, go ahead.  At least my toes are happy.  J

1 Skirt, 3 Looks

1 Skirt, 3 Looks

A black pencil skirt is a closet essential that most women purchase the moment they enter the work force.  Or from the moment they can walk in heels.  This classic and timeless basic allows for some versatile looks depending on the styling, accessorizing and occasion.

Three Ways to Wear It…
1. Floral Blouse – Counter a busy floral blouse with a crisp, solid white blazer.  The black and white basics pair wonderfully with a patterned blouse and vibrant shoes.

2. Black and White – Tuck in a patterned black and white top for a saucy date-night look.  With the shirt tucked in, it transforms into a dress.  Add a cute pin to make it your own.
3. Layers – Add a laid back sweater over a light blue button down for a more casual outfit.  Leave it untucked, yet paired with heels for some contrast.

Anchors Away!

Anchors Away!

With my beach vacation quickly approaching, my mind has been all consumed by what to pack to bring some style to the island.  Recently I have had an affinity with cute anchor accessories, which remind me of summer picnics and boating.  I just pulled out my anchor pendant from last summer to accessorize a blue blouse.  Then, since I still have one more week of no shopping for clothes or shoes, I indulged in a cute new iPhone case for spring.

Two items on my wish list…  Kate Spade Anchors Away mini studs and J. Crew Anchors Aweigh Skirted Tank swim suit.  Maybe a little after Easter purchase?  J

Rainbow Connection

Rainbow Connection

My affinity with well-manicured fingers continues.  This week has been all about fun and colorful nails.  I started on Sunday with bright coral nails and just a pop of glimmer on my ring finger to add some extra dazzle.  Then, by mid-week I decided between a few shades of purple to change things up.  Finally, it’s not easy being green, but I will have bright green nails for the weekend.  J

Luck Be A Lady

Luck Be A Lady

Looking polished and perfectly ladylike can be easy peasy with a crisp tailored white blouse.  A white button down is a closet essential and completely versatile when creating girly and ladylike looks.

With a skirt…
Pair your white blouse with a colorful skirt and leave it untucked for a casual outfit.  Add sophistication with a chunky necklace and nude heels.
Under a dress…
Popping a crisp white shirt under a dress creates a polished and preppy look.  Add a big bag, chunky earrings and pumps to go girly.
