Sharing My Sole - Hoot Hoot

I know I’ve said it before, but I have a slight major obsession with owls.  It all started in college when I pledged my sorority and owls were our mascot.  At the time, owls were a bit of a commodity.  Now they are everywhere and I am completely embracing this trend.  So, when I saw this little owl sweater I nearly busted out in a sorority cheer in store.  And then I realized I am no longer in college…  Darnnnnn ittttttt.

Happy New Year to all!  I feel so blessed and fortunate to be spending the first few days of 2013 in Marco Island – my home away from home.  I sometimes feel even more at home here than I do at my actual home, which probably means it’s time to quit my day job and become a full time bartender at a tiki hut on the beach and stay here forever.  Sounds like a great way to start the new year, right?

Holiday Style Week

I’ve received a few emails lately asking for style tips around what to wear to holiday events, cocktail parties and festive work functions.  So, I’ve decided to dedicate a whole week to holiday inspired style!  If you’re looking for a little December style inspiration, then stop back each day this week for plenty of ideas.

I don’t always like to wear head to toe black (it can be a little blah), but by adding in pops of gold and plenty of textures, my all black ensemble looks chic for a holiday dinner party or cocktails!

Miss New Bootie

As soon as I saw these boots, the classic lyrics of Bubba Sparxxx (yep) started playing in my head…  “I found you Ms. New Booty” (Hello freshman year of college).  Now that everyone has enjoyed that sweet memory, it’s time to turn your attention to the reason for the singing- My glittery booties.  I just love them.  I wore this outfit over the weekend for a casual Saturday look.  Boyfriend jeans, sweatshirt, scarf, booties.  My idea of casual chic.

And now, I will leave you all with this…  “Booty, booty, booty, booty, rockin’ everywhere.”  Enjoy that.

Red Red Wine

Oxblood, Wine, Burgundy…  Whatever you want to call it, I’m stocking up on fall’s It color.  (Let’s just go with burgundy because the word “oxblood” makes me feel slightly uncomfortable…)  I purchased this faux-leather sheath dress this weekend and was excited to wear it to the office today.  Burgundy is really one of the most flattering shades of red and is very wearable for multiple skin tones.  Easily paired with boots and a button down, I’m calling this look corporate chic.

And so we meet again

The changing color of the leaves, apple cider, pumpkin carving…  and boots.  There are countless things I love about fall, but bringing out my fall boots has to be one of my favorites.  It’s like reconnecting with old friends.  This past weekend as I headed to the park, I threw on a pair of boots that I’ve had for years.  I think they are nearly 6 years old, which is a testament to making a true investment in your wardrobe because they still look great.  Anyway, here is my idea of the perfect fall outfit, boots and all.

Remixed

Someone recently told me they’ve never seen me wear the same outfit twice. While I can assure you that is not true, I do have a knack for remixing pieces in my wardrobe and styling them into multiple different outfits. I recently took this dress I got from Loft back at the end of August (see Camouflage) and styled it for fall. By adding tights, boots and a faux-leather jacket, this sweet dress is perfect for the cooler temps and changing leaves. All it takes is a little remixing of the pieces you already have in your closet and you can create a brand new look!

Gingham Girl

Don’t you just love it when you stumble upon something new that you just want to wear all the time?  Well, that’s how I feel about this new gingham print shirt.  The fit is amazing, it’s comfortable, colorful and I could wear it every day.  Over the weekend I paired this button down with distressed boyfriend jeans, a sweet bow belt and pointed toe pumps.  My new favorite outfit!

50 Shades of Yellow

Every year my “second family” has their annual Yellow Party!  Similar to a white party, but even better because everything is yellow – the food, the clothes, the decorations, the drinks!  So, for this year’s yellow party I decided to sport my new mustard color denim and plenty of yellow accessories.  Looking for an outfit with a sunny disposition?  This one certainly made me smile!

Neapolitan

There comes a point in the summer where I become anxious and ready for fall fashion and layering.  (This usually hits around the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale when I buy some pre-fall items…)  I must have been desperate last week and tired of tanks and t-shirts, because I threw on a light summer sweater.  I love the layered colors in this loose fitting sweater because they remind me of delicious Neapolitan ice cream.  I paired my sweater with a chunky statement necklace and blue pumps to keep the look summery and light.
