The Nail Files: Heart You

Sharing My Sole - Heart You

I’m always amazed at the fabulous manicure ideas I find on Pinterest.  I wish I had the time (and funds) to get my nails done professionally on a regular basis, but that rarely happens.  So, I created my own non-lavish but very convenient spa in my own bathroom and tried some little Valentine’s inspired hearts.  I wish I had a steadier hand, but I think they are pretty cute!

1. Paint base color – I used OPI “Pink-ing of You”

2. Make a little puddle of polish and grab a toothpick

3. Create 3 little dots to outline your heart – I used OPI “No Spain No Gain”

4. Fill in the lines!  Ta-da!

The Nail Files: Dipped in Gold

I think my nails are trying to tell me they’re ready for the holidays.  Even though we still have over a month to go until Christmas, it’s like my little fingers are reaching for all the gold, red and sparkly polishes.  And sugar cookies.  (But that’s another story).  Anyway, I tried a twist on the French manicure and started with a dark hue and then added a little gold tip.  Voila!  Is it New Year’s Eve yet?

Finger Painting

Sometimes we all just need a little something as a mid-week “pick me up.”  Whether it’s a glass of wine, pair of shoes or manicure.  I decided to go get a quick polish change last night since I am traveling this week and I just wanted some fresh paint and a new color.  I chose some adventurous shades for this warm summer weather.  Maybe they are a little risky, but I like the fun look!

Chameleon

After launching last fall, Chanel’s Peridot Nail Lacquer was an instant hit.  I kept reading about this famous shade in all of my favorite fashion magazines, so I finally decided to have a “mini-splurge” and buy a bottle for myself.  The best way to describe this shade – A mood ring in a bottle.  I was trying to figure what color it actually is…  Gold?  Green?  Teal?!  The shade changes depending on the light with such a dynamic shimmer and iridescent effect.  Basically, I can’t stop staring at my fingers.

Quiet vs Bold

It’s funny how my two new favorite nail polish shades are the complete opposite of each other.  I fell in love with this subtle and springy green-ish hue from OPI.  It’s light and fresh for May.  Then, I found this dramatic maroon and red-ish shade from the fabulous Deborah Lippmann line-up.  It adds just the right amount of bold color to any outfit.

Quiet and Subtle…
OPI –  “Thanks a Windmillion”
Bold and Dramatic…
Deborah Lippmann – “Good Girl Gone Bad”
