If I were frolicking down the streets of Paris eating endless chocolate croissants, I imagine I would be wearing this little outfit. In reality, when I did spend time in Paris, I lived in my North Face fleece because it was unseasonably cold and because I was in college. And fleece jackets were cool. I’m sure all the Parisian beauties were turning up their nose at my collegiate “style.” All the more reason to go back to France and wear something tres chic. Although if I plan to eat unlimited croissants, I’m not sure if I would be able to fit into these pants…

When I put this outfit together, I had the distinct feeling I wore it before.  I looked through some of my old outfit posts, and indeed I did.  Except with lime green jeans instead of mint.  So there’s one difference.  But honestly this is an easy one to repeat since it’s simple to throw together and this polka dot shirt is one of my favorites.

Every spring I find myself anxiously reaching for my bright dresses and tops.  This is partially because bringing out my spring clothes feels like I’m getting an entirely new wardrobe (kind of), but also because I’m so over my neutral winter wardrobe.  It’s like I get to re-invent myself for spring and say hello to color again.  This also usually comes with the realization that I need a tan…  That’s when I turn to these.

I remember finding this little gem of a dress at J.Crew three years ago. It was on the clearance rack for under $40 (what?!) and they literally had one left in my size. For a moment I thought maybe I was on a hidden camera show where someone would pop out and say “Ha! Just kidding! This dress really isn’t for you”. I mean, shopping moments like this rarely happen.  It was fashion fate. Sale dress + my size + polka dots = perfection.

You guys, I wasn’t kidding when I said I live in maxi dresses on vacation.  Ok so this is a maxi skirt, but close enough.  Honestly what could be more comfortable than a cotton t-shirt and stretchy skirt?  The only other thing I have to say about this outfit is that I wore it out to dinner and had the most delicious glass of sangria that is still haunting my dreams.  (Ok so that’s not really about this outfit, but the sangria was worth mentioning).

I really think Mother Nature played an April Fool’s joke yesterday.  When I woke up and took Potsie outside, it was a little chilly but relatively mild.  Then when I got out of the shower it was snowing.  I really didn’t know what to think (besides the obvious expletives).  I was slightly lost about what to wear, but landed on this ladylike dress with nude tights, since I didn’t want to leave my legs as cold and confused as I was.  I mean it’s April…  Shouldn’t a girl be able to wear a spring-ish dress if she wants?

You know what’s hiding under my winter parka? A crazed woman who is ready for warmth! I tried to brighten things up this weekend with a pink blouse and colorful scarf. If I must continue to wear my puffer coat, I may as well sprinkle a little color underneath.

This Ohio winter is really starting to get to me.  Just when I’m ready to bust out my maxi dresses and sandals, another blizzard hits.  And all of this cold weather is leaving me slightly uninspired with my wardrobe.  So when I get into a wardrobe rut, I turn to my favorite basics…  Denim, button downs, polka dots.  It’s my easy way to pull together a layered outfit and attempt to brighten my cold, cold day.  (Also, if anyone living in a tropical climate needs a full-time stylist/pool girl/maid, I might be interested…)

You know those sweaters that feel so warm and worn-in as soon as you put them on? I actually just purchased this sweater on major sale (like, this-is-so-cheap-you-are-not-allowed-to-return-it, sale) but as soon as I tried it on, I felt like I had it forever. I will be honest:  It felt like a lot of work putting this outfit together on such a frigid day.  With temps hovering around 20 degrees, adding layers and bundling up can feel like a chore, especially when you still want to look ladylike.  I feel like my saving grace is my giant bin of scarves and my love for tights.  Because when spring hits, I’m sure I’ll be longing to wear my tights again…  Right?  Ok, probably not.  But I’ll just tell myself that for now.  Stay warm, friends.
