This past week was such a blur, but it really happened… Zak and I are engaged! The moment was lovely and spontaneous and emotional and we couldn’t be happier. Thanks to all the well wishes from those who follow along on Instagram, it really means so much! Last weekend couldn’t have been more fun as we celebrated with friends and family and I feel very fortunate as I think about what the future holds for us.
We’ve got some other life changes fast approaching, so I apologize if things have been a little light on the blog front lately. BUT, two exciting things coming up… One, I’m working on a blog design update and refresh! Really excited to make my little space on the internet a bit more user friendly and to update the aesthetic. Two, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale starts in a few days! (The most wonderful time of the year!) I’ll be partnering with Nordstrom to give you a peak at my favorite items during the Early Access time, July 13th – 21st. The easiest way to shop and follow along on social is to sign up with LIKEtoKNOW.it and ‘like’ my photos to get the item details straight to your inbox OR to shop using the app! I’ll provide more details as I select and share my favorites. In the meantime, have a fantastic week!
The long holiday weekend is finally here! Now that summer feels like it’s officially in full swing, I’m trying to take advantage of the nice weather, be outside as much as possible and find ample time to relax. We are spending a few days in Columbus for a cookout and festive party with friends and hopefully can find a quiet spot to watch fireworks. Hope you’re able to disconnect for a few days and celebrate the Fourth!
A few favorites from around the web…
There are a TON of amazing summer sales going on this weekend and plenty of items I’ve been eyeing for a few weeks are now on sale!
Each summer I feel like the Fourth of July always sneaks up on me and this year is no exception. (How is it already July on Saturday?!) Independence Day has always been one of my favorite holidays. Beyond the patriotism, it’s a nice pause in the midst of a crazy and busy summer and is filled with time with family and friends, dining al fresco and crackling fireworks. I’ve been planning some outfit options for backyard barbeques. You can never go wrong with the classic colors or a hint of stripes.
It truly feels like summer is in full bloom. I’m not quite sure how the July Fourth weekend is only about a week away, but I’m ready to embrace everything this season has to offer. After a truly bananas week with lots of change and decisions made (more on that soon…) I’m ready to decompress this weekend in Columbus with Zak and hopefully take a break from my phone. A little digital detox, time outside and a few ice cream cones is just what I need. Hope your weekend is wonderful!
This past weekend was my annual college roommate reunion, and I think I can confidently say it was the sweatiest two days of my life. (You’re welcome for that lovely visual). It was 90 degrees and we were outside the majority of the time, so we all wore breezy dresses to attempt to keep cool. I wore this easy dress from Old Navy, sans the denim jacket. I always like to stock up on a few inexpensive sundresses that are easy to throw on (and sweat in) throughout the summer months.
Neutral dresses and tops have really been taking over my closet lately, which is perfect for pulling together easy summer outfits. I feel like my sneaky secret for making my neutrals look exciting and new again is changing up my accessories. I love adding this statement necklace to a white t-shirt or blouse. And a little style tip for when you’re bored with your usual tote bag: Swap out cute scarves or bandanas to make it feel like a new bag. Since I’ve been obsessed with the Madewell Transport Tote for years, I have a little collection of bandanas I change up on a regular basis!
Guys, I’m going to go ahead and make a bold statement right now…. Flare jeans and white blouses are my summer uniform. I’m a woman obsessed. Denim is definitely my staple, but I’m normally a skinny or cropped jeans kind of gal. But when I found these flares recently (yes, I just talked about them in this post) I freaked out and can’t stop wearing them. (Also, can’t say no to high waist jeans that don’t dig into your stomach, am I right?)
I’ve found an updated version of the classic 70s style seems to work best. I’ve rounded up quite the collection of white cotton blouses that look perfect both tucked in and left out and flowing.
Friday has finally arrived! Woof, this week felt loooong. Despite a hectic work schedule, I was able to have some girlfriends over this week for a little wine and cheese happy hour and get a few workouts in. It’s supposed to hit 90 this weekend (!!) so we might melt at the Indians game on Saturday. Thank goodness for ice cold beer.
Father’s Day is right around the corner (June 18th!) and this year I’m putting together a little “man spa” kit for my Dad… Some cologne, face wash, organic deodorant and a shave set from Harry’s. I feel like every man deserves to be a little pampered and the Limited Edition Father’s Day shave set has everything he needs.
I remember going camping with my Dad when I was little and him shaving over a tiny bowl. (Anyone else go camping with their Dad growing up?!) He also instilled a love for music within me at a young age for which I’m still grateful for. He would play the guitar and I would sing. Just a little Father-Daughter duet.
So if you still need a gift for Dad this year, check out Harry’s Father’s Day set. (p.s. I have also used these razors to shave my legs and they are fantastic!)
