Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! This past week was fast-paced and packed, so I am looking forward to a nice weekend. I am actually starting volunteering at the Humane Society tomorrow morning and I feel like I will need to restrain myself from bringing home five more dogs. When I adopted Potsie, I picked him up from the most disgusting house I’d ever seen and now I just want to save every animal in need. So I figured volunteering was a great way to give back and warm my heart with some tail wags.

Good Style Fashion Show

Good Style Fashion Show

Last week I was fortunate enough to support my friend and fellow blogger, Dina, in the Goodwill Good Style Fashion Show. I have complete respect for anyone who is a gifted thrifter… I seem to be missing the thrifting gene. Sometimes I don’t even have the patience to dig at TJ Maxx. But Dina is my thrifting idol, with a gift for making old things new again and spending about 50 cents on unique accessories and outfits.

Dina styled her Moroccan Holiday thrifted collection with the rich colors and textures of Morocco. She pulled together 10 stunning looks for… wait for it… $100. Ahem, 10 outfits for $100? Unbelievable. All of the bloggers did an amazing job with their Goodwill collections. I was in complete awe of the fashionable and affordable outfits. Now, will someone please take me thrifting with you and show me your ways?

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, sole sisters! I have always chosen my Friday Favorites from my Instagram photos, however I made a commitment to myself to use my camera more often, not only to better my photography skills, but also to actually take and develop photos. I feel like ever since my iphone camera came along, I stopped getting photos printed. I had a lot of fun capturing moments this week with my DSLR and look forward to taking more. So, here you have it, a new twist on Friday Favorites!

Gratitude

Yesterday I found myself in an abnormally cranky mood. I had little patience and was frustrated with the littlest things, for no real reason at all. So instead of dwelling in a negative pool of energy, I decided to focus on things I am grateful for. We tend to take for granted the things that really deserve our gratitude. So, in lieu Friday Favorites and in light of all the insanity that is happening across our country, here are a few positive things I am very grateful for…

Sharing My Sole

I am grateful for my youthful face and that I will (hopefully) age like my mother. People often ask me if I’m in college (or high school) and I normally get highly annoyed with this, but I should be grateful. I will probably get ID’d well into my thirties, but that’s not such a bad thing. Plus, I will hopefully age as gracefully as my mother, who looks much younger than she actually is.

I am grateful for girlfriends and wine. I usually take these two things for granted, but sometimes all I need to change my mood is a glass of wine and some laughs with my girlfriends.

I am grateful that my dog is a snuggle bug. I loved my dog as a child, but he usually wanted his own space. Potsie would happily sit on my lap all day or sleep on my face all night if I let him.

I am grateful for my legs. I take them for granted all day and even give them a hard time since they are little shorties. But honestly, they take me everywhere I need to go and they are getting stronger and stronger with each hot yoga class I go to.

I am grateful for kind and generous people. Why do I always seem to notice and be bothered by people who are rude, but take for granted all the people who are so kind and giving on a daily basis? I’m very grateful for the positive people I am surrounded by and unexpected kind gestures.

What are you grateful for? Have a lovely weekend!

Madewell Event

Sharing My Sole - Madewell

I had such a great time last week at the Madewell shopping soiree! What could be better than shopping with friends, cocktails and cupcakes? Their new spring collection is simply amazing and it was hard to resist taking home every.single.dress. (They are all swoon-worthy). Here are a few snap shots from the event…

InStyle

InStyle has always been my favorite source of style inspiration. Even in the days of Pinterest, where you can find a million outfit ideas with the click of your mouse, I still dog-ear and sticky note my favorite pages the old fashioned way. So when InStyle named me “Reader of the Week” last week, I was completely honored! You can read the full article here, but here are a few of my favorite InStyle inspired looks…

Five Things

Last week, Becky tagged me in her Five Things post. I love reading these and learning little tidbits I didn’t know about my friends and favorite bloggers. So, here you have it, five completely random facts that you may not know about me…

Sharing My Sole

One. I don’t like Oreos. People always seem shocked and disgusted by this, usually saying “Are you American? Who doesn’t like Oreos?” But I don’t. I think the cream filling is gross and I hate how the chocolate cookie part gets stuck in my teeth.

Two. I’m a songbird. I was in show choir and musicals in high school, continued with voice lessons through college and until recently, I sang with the Akron Symphony Choir. For now I sing in the car and the shower until I make the time commitment to choir again.

Three. I’ve never had a cavity. Yep, I’ve made it to 26 with no cavities. I do panic that I’ll get one someday and have a meltdown. What can I say? I went through 5 years of orthodontia and I take care of my pearly whites.

Four. I’m a vegetarian.  I made this change about a year and half ago due to stomach issues, and I really don’t miss meat at all.

Five. I (currently) have 98 pairs of shoes… This blog is called Sharing My Sole for a reason.  :)

Alright ladies… Tag! You’re it! Dina, Mikki, and Liz – What are your five things?!
