Hello Color

Sharing My Sole - Hello Color

Every spring I find myself anxiously reaching for my bright dresses and tops.  This is partially because bringing out my spring clothes feels like I’m getting an entirely new wardrobe (kind of), but also because I’m so over my neutral winter wardrobe.  It’s like I get to re-invent myself for spring and say hello to color again.  This also usually comes with the realization that I need a tan…  That’s when I turn to these.

A Departure

Sharing My Sole - A Departure

When I spotted these geometric print pants at Gap a few weeks ago it took me about two seconds to decide I was buying them. The eclectic print just belonged in my closet. I wasn’t initially sure what top I would pair them with, but then I saw my friend Becky sporting this billowy blouse and realized it would be perfection with these pants. For a girl who typically has a more classic and feminine style, this feels like a bit of a fashion risk for me. But no risk no reward, right? (Whoa, that got deep).

Coincidence or Fate?

Sharing My Sole - Coincidence or Fate

I remember finding this little gem of a dress at J.Crew three years ago. It was on the clearance rack for under $40 (what?!) and they literally had one left in my size. For a moment I thought maybe I was on a hidden camera show where someone would pop out and say “Ha! Just kidding! This dress really isn’t for you”. I mean, shopping moments like this rarely happen.  It was fashion fate. Sale dress + my size + polka dots = perfection.

In bloom

Sharing My Sole - In Bloom

Florals for Spring?  Groundbreaking. (Love me some Devil Wears Prada).  I actually wore this little floral number in Naples to ring in 2013, but clearly it’s quite fitting for May.  That’s right, it was warm enough in January in Florida to wear this dress out.  Why do I live in Ohio again?  Anyway, paired with a classic trench and I’m ready for work or play.

Zoe What?

Sharing My Sole - Zoe What

Just call me Rachel Zoe because maxi dresses are my new thing. I can only hope if Rachel saw me in this dress she would call it “maj” or say “I die” or some other Rachel-ism. Although I am quite certain she would tell me my outfit was missing a chic hat and lacking accessories.

I couldn’t decide what to wear to my friend’s bridal shower on Friday, so I went with an old standby. In case you need another reason to wear a maxi other than this, this or this, I will gladly give you one more… It’s totally cool if you didn’t shave your legs in the morning when you’re wearing a maxi. Got stubble? Maxi’s got you covered. I’m hoping Rachel would approve as well.

Scattered

Sharing My Sole - Scattered

I use to be very diligent about laying out my clothes for work at night before I went to sleep.  But lately I’ve been beelining it to my bed and skipping that whole process.  This isn’t always helpful in the mornings when I’m half asleep with a mushy brain.  Yesterday was a mushy brain morning where I did my best to pull something cute together…  Skirt, top, shoes.  Check, check, check.  I received a few compliments on my shoes, so I feel like I got at least one part right.  And that’s good enough for a mushy brain day.

On repeat + Giveaway

Sharing My Sole - On repeat

I feel like my style lately has been defined by maxi dresses and denim jackets. I just can’t get enough. I guess that’s better than other addictions, like chocolate or shoes or coffee. Those obviously don’t tempt me at all. Anyway, I love this laid back maxi with simple wedges and a light jacket for the perfect spring day.

Unexpected

Sharing My Sole - Unexpected

Sometimes Pinterest inspires an outfit in unexpected ways. I loved the color combination of this door and decided to replicate it into an outfit. That’s right, I have hundreds of “outfit inspiration” pins to choose from but I decided to go with the door. I can’t always help where my brain goes, people. Enjoy.

Neon

Sharing My Sole - Neon

I feel like this dress proves that fashion repeats itself. I got this dress three years ago when neon wasn’t even a “thing” and it has survived half a dozen closet clean-outs since then. Three years later and these bright neon colors are everywhere and I’ve seen similar versions of this dress sprinkled in different stores. I originally paired this dress with bright pink pumps, but it was a bit much, so I went with… you guessed it, nude heels!! (I know, I know). So what does this all mean? Keep a dress if you really like it and invest in nude heels. Or something like that.

Minty Fresh

Sharing My Sole - Minty Fresh

I love how a pop of color can really brighten up an outfit. This outfit with regular denim? Predictable. This outfit with mint jeans? Fresh. I realize that mint is the on-trend color of the season and I’ve completely jumped on the bandwagon. These pants have actually been stashed in my closet for months and I’ve been patiently waiting for a nice spring day to wear them, which have been rare. So I found the ideal day to wear not only my mint denim, but also peep-toe shoes. Whoa, this may be too much spring goodness to handle.
